The e-mail from Tynedale:-

Hello Andrew
My name's Tim T*****. Last night I was given some vaguely described responsibilies related to hospitality for visiting supporters but must say I (we?) don't know who here has grabbed full responsibility for it. I suppose Mounts Bay is going through the same process as us: trying to prepare properly for the higher standards of Div 2. For us this is still work in progress.
Over a beer or two with a colleague at the pub at the end of TRFC's driveway, we wondered if you and other visitors are aware of this and other v convenient places to stay and what TRFC should be doing to help visitors in this context, particularly new visitors.
We'll come to some conclusions on that. In the meantime is there any advice you would like that is not available from the usual tourist websites?
It's raining in the north!
We look forward to receiving you.
Tim
PS What does TDH stand for? Is it repeatable, or Cornish?

I think I shall stick to what I'm good at and, as soon as I can work out what that is, I shall stick to it!

My reply.  Sorry I said I'm not drinking tonight, but i did.

Hello Tim.
Thanks for your e-mail.  The trip up to Tynedale is a monster journey that we've been looking forward to since the day we got the fixture list.   It's probably unsurprising to hear none of us have visited Tynedale before, so we're glad to know there are people up there who are going out of their way to help.
Mounts Bay, and indeed our supporters club are still evolving, every season presents new challenges and like yourselves we'll be learning as we go as we progress up the leagues.

To date we've organised our travel up to Newcastle Airport, (leaving here at 3.30 am, yegods!) our plans after landing at about 9am on the Saturday are so far vague.  We'll be staying the night at an hotel in the airport area and returning on sunday.  Between 9am and God-knows-what o'clock we're certainly open to suggestions!

Don't panic, it's raining here too.
We look forward to visiting you
TDH

The meaning of TDH? Don't ask!  Oh, you already have.  TDH stands for 'The Druth Hurts'. "Druth" being Redruth.  My home town.   I've been in Penzance for 18 years and never ever expected to visit the mighty 'Druth as an away fan.  It's gonna be complicated and I'm growing a great big bushy beard to avoid being recognised and being set upon by those concrete-chomping madmen.  When I devised my cunning moniker I was still a defiant ex-pat Redruthian, but much time has passed!  Oh dear.

I think I shall stick to what I'm good at and, as soon as I can work out what that is, I shall stick to it!

Here's the reply to my e-mail to Tynedale.  Full of useful info!

Hello Andrew,
So you're coming just for the rugby! I'm impressed.

Unless you wish to sample the fascinating Newcastle Quayside (clubs, pubs and lasses showing how resistant Geordies are to the cold) I suggest you consider the following as places to stay
1. We're trying to get some sponsorship from the Angel in Corbridge, 10 mins walk from the club, so I'd better mention them first. No reason not to, but I know the bars and people in the following better.
2. The Dyvels pub. It's at the end of our driveway, buses and trains almost at the front door . Website dyvelsinn.co.uk. Run by David Harding
3. The County Hotel, Hexham. About 4 miles from TRFC, 10 minutes by bus or train Website thecountyhexham.co.uk. Run by David's dad Peter. Just down the street from my house.

This is not an "official TRFC list", just some personal comments that I hope you will find useful

If you really do wish to investigate Newcastle, it might be better to stay close to the airport to take advantage of the metro train connection to the airport. The last trains/buses to Corbridge/Hexham on a Saturday will not allow a full evening in Newcastle. There are always taxis. I guess £30 min from Newcastle.
See you soon
Tim

Newton Abbot must be a rather nondescrïpt place, as I've no recollection of ever having been there!

You had obviously had too much to drink on Monday to remember much. We are sorted, the information is for anyone else that was thinking of going up to Tynedale to support the lads.
