I believe that Newquay will have another strong season and be in the push for another promotion.  A lot of good young players, good team spirit and good coaching.

Merlin

Not quite sure what we have signed in terms of quality but plenty of new players at training where attendances are averaging around 40. We will be using our trip to Cornwall on 18th Aug to test some of these newer players and we will know more then.

Dickon.

London Cornish completed their pre season preparations with a 33-27 loss at Lon 2 South side Guildford on Saturday. There were 3 divisions between these two sides last season so this represents a good performance from LCRFC. League season starts on Sat 8th Sept at Tottonians, who were the highest placed side left in Lon 3 SW from last season.

Congrats on the MB result on Saturday - if that hasnt sent a few shivers around the division, then nothing will!

Sorry to hear your result Dickon but there'll be plenty more games to prove your worth.  Thoroughly enjoyed a great afternoon out the Twickenham weekend watching London Cornish and you deserve to be a success if the friendliness and hospitality shown to us i anything to go by.

Sorry Dickon I'm going to miss your game on Saturday. Even though the Tottonians ground is less than 2 miles from where I am living at present(West of Southampton). I shall be in Bridgwater watching MB. Maybe I can get a lift up to your ground with them for the return game whenever it is.

Merlin, I don't know. we lost there last year, but we have recruited a little more than they. We started with the same sort of scrappy game as last season. Bev were defeated fairly heavily away. I have therefore opted out from making a decision and called it a draw. Here are the others for anyone interested.

Bev v Caldy bad one to start with, I am going to call a draw 18-18
Fylde v Preston G: local derby going the way of the home side, just 12-9. Fylde by 3
Ionians v Darlington MP. Ionians did OK last week, and had their kicker just had a bit more luck they might have win it. However I am going with DMP 22-32 DMP by 10.
Macclesfield v West Park. I have to go with Macclesfield as it was where my grandfather was born. 23-5, Macclesfield by 18.
Morley v Bradford & Bingley: both scored lots of points las time out, so this will be a close low-scoring game, just going to the home side 13-8, Morley by 5.
Rugby v Leicester: A bit of a cat fight here. Big cats always have an edge on home ground so Rugby 18 Leicester 6. Rugby by 12.
Tynedale v Harrogate. Tynedale this season's Champions in waiting will be too good for Harrogate. Tynedale 16 Harrogate 6. Tynedale by 10

Green wood has just called a Frech win by 10, if I heard correctly.

I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

London Cornish produce the shock of the opening day results in Lon 3 SW with a superb 17-15 win at pre season promotion hopefuls Tottonians. The win was achieved by 2 goals and a penalty, the kicks by former Truro full back Dan Pollard proving decisive!
