Good god man you are getting as bad as BoP and I. That is one of my favorite errors, form and not from - all to do with the common phenomenon which strikes most people at a keyboard.

Wino, no it should be I. The sentence is '...getting as bad..as I am', 'am' being dropped.

I shall illustrate. 'Do you like him as much as me' does not mean the same as 'Do you like him as much as I'. I do confess though there are times when it is difficult to work out which is correct. I just wish Donald Hughes (school headmaster) was still around to ask those difficult questions of grammar. 'The wages of sin is death' was one of his favourites; in spite of looking wrong, it is grammatically correct. (At least that is what he told us.)

Favourite was deliberate; well spotted BoP. That is unless I am American (from the USA that is) in which case favorite is acceptable.

As TDH said elsewhere, why restrict an answer to a few words when a plethora of many words will do it just as bad, as long as the Engrish* is perfect.

Right,back to this Bilbo thread,i think it's pathetic from the RNLI and the council that this has got this far.Personaly i would like to see some of the tourists banned and keep Bilbo doing his job,he does not leave rubbish lying around and causing havoc or trying the patience of the lifeguards by doing stupid things on the beach.The kids love him and he's being supervised at all time.Fish,if your reading this,post a few words and stick up for Bilbo,you know him better than anyone!.

We've been trying to get fish to post on here for ages,yes fish can post but fish never does.

I suppose we shouldn't carp.

It is looking rather bleak hoping for fish to post.

Fish needs to come down off his perch. It would be brill if he did.

This is certainly the plaice for it.

We're not going to trawl through these old ones again, are we? There's no net value in it.

I should have known better than to cross swordfish with DaveH about grammar - sorry, it won't happen again.

Perhaps I'll just drift off the line now and have a cup of tea in the Mackerel Sky.  Anyone know their scale of charges?
