After looking a bit closer at the completed squads I have changed my predictions a little bit. Last year I thought Redruth had put a first rate squad together and finished mid table so I got that one totally wrong. They have had a year together with few changes this time. CABs are in the same position that Redruth were in last season with all the changes.

C.A.BS-5th (div 2)

Redruth-4th (div 2)

Mounts Bay- Top 6 finish for Bay (Div 2)

St Ives-4th (SW 2)

Newquay-4th (WCW?)

Pirates-4th (Div 1)

London Cornish-3rd

I think it's quite remarkable how Cornwall (population 501k - Office of National Statistics) can have all these clubs whilst Northumberland (population 300k, but with access to the 1.1m in Tyne and Wear and 453k in Co Durham) is so poorly served for top notch rugby clubs. Apart from Tyne, we have one or two clubs in North 2E and the rest are in the Durham/Northumberland leagues. I blame their stupid obsession with that round ball game; it's not as if they are particularly good at it.

Before the season starts, I'll post something to tell you what to expect from Tyne and Blaydon as far as the style of rugby is concerned. We would be happy with a top 10 finish, preferably far enough away from the relegation places to keep the pressure off. This club has improved steadily since the new millennium, but we have absolutely no idea how good we are when compared to NL2 teams. Manchester only beat us in extra time last season in the cup, but that is no guide to form over the course of a season. Must say that we couldn't have a better opener. Bay will be a great test of the relative merits of N3s and N3N.

QM, I think it's fair to say that few of us Bay supporters would claim to say with much confidence how they expect us to do in N2.  We beat Southend away in the Cup last season by one point before narrowly losing at The Mennaye to Coventry in atrocious conditions.

However, our back division in particular will be very different this coming season from last and while we have recruited some excellent players, they do have to gel as a team.  A feature of last season was that, although we had some really good players in every position, the whole was even better than the sum of the parts!

All in all it is going to be an interesting season and, as you say, we probably couldn't have had a better opener.

I like talking to a brick wall, it's the only thing in the world that never contradicts me.

Here's a potentially controversial view;

Bay have lost an entire back division including player of the season Lee Jarvis.
Travelling is a nightmare.
Survival in Div 2 would be a real achievement.
Prediction -9th.

Pirates 4th

Lanson 1st

Redruth 5th

Snives 2nd

London Cornish 3rd.

Don't think that's controversial, I thinks its a realistic assessment, about right all round.
Would be very pleased to finish 9th.

What ever we do, we are up there to be knocked about a bit , for me mid table or a little below will surfice for our first outing in the N2 Div.

A lot of clubs are predicting they will finish 9th. Must be because that is a fairly modest prediction whilst being fairly well clear of the relegation picture. From a purely selfish perspective, I hope there are 3 clubs (not either of our teams, naturally) who slip behind the pack at an early stage.

Too early to say as team not together yet, will guess at a later date,  Any position above the relegation slot will do.

Might be sounding a little optimistic but I reckon Bay to finish in the top 3  ;)

After much consideration I have come to the following conclusion:- I dunno.

I think I shall stick to what I'm good at and, as soon as I can work out what that is, I shall stick to it!

OK here's my prediction.
1st. Mount's Bay
2nd. Redruth
3rd. Lanson

OK, maybe a bit unrealistic, but I can hope!

I'm not sure the Reds will finish ahead of the CABs, but I'd like it to happen nonetheless!

TDH, all you need now is faith and a little charity from the opposition and maybe your hope will come true. However, maybe it won't.
