I think it is unlikely he would have been there. I don't think he is that old, he just hasn't worn well.

I would give my right arm to be ambidextrous.

You've been watching Sharpe on the telly, haven't you?  it should be against the law to be that northern.  Ollie.

Looks like the Pirates have lost two of their key players to Exeter. Steenson (flyhalf) and Cracknell (flanker).

I think Tim Cowley to Bourgoin is the biggest loss..

Players come and go. The Pirates have to hope that their new coach as a good eye for their new signings. Cowley, Steenson and Cracknell werent big signings when they arrived at the Pirates and neither was Di Bernardo.

I would have said Steenson was,he scored lots of points for Rotherham, second only to   Alberto Di Bernado.

I think Jimmy Moore and Ollie Thomas have very reasoanble kicking/scoring records and stood in well when Steeno was injured/away.
Yes, tis the season of comings and goings but if the number is fewer than last seaosn, then the Pirates should remain very competitive to challenge against Leeds, Exeter and Notts in the top 4 for next season. However the way Exeter are shaping up, they seem to be focussing on going up next season and we may need to wait for the new ground at Truro in a couple more seasons.

If Exeter are to go up then they need some premiership quality players not just the best from Div 1.

Exeter will only recruit what they feel they need to win Nat One and then IF successful, like Worcester, they will release a large number of those players and sign nearly a new squad of premiership standard players.
Even IF Exeter do go up at the end of next season its likely that they would come back down so in 2 years time,we could be back to where we are now but the Pirates might be better placed on and off the field to mount a challenge.

I would have thought the off field issue is the No.1 priority.

Getting back to the start of this thread I was at that game. In those days we kids could run on at half time and collect autographs and I got half the Cardiff team.
We only lost 6-3 and held them up front . Alvin Williams kicked a penalty down the Newlyn end zzzzzzzz

relubbusman, have you still got those autographs? Were Bleddyn Williams and Cliff Morgan playing, or had they retired by then?

Sadly no when I got married and left home my mother threw away several autograph books and a couple of hundred old Pirate programmes. Thanks Mum!!!
Those two you mention were not playing that night -though I had seen them both on the Mennaye a couple of years earlier - but they did have two current Wales centres Gareth Griffiths (who was a sensation playing alongside Tony O'Reilly for the Lions in South Africa) and Gordon Wells who captained Cardiff that year and saved Wales with an amazing tackle at Twickenham earlier that winter.  The Mennaye was always heaving when the big teams came down.

Hmm, nearly 6000 tickets already sold for the Pirates v Plymouth game on Apr 6th.

I didn't intend to do a thing today and so far, I'm right on schedule.

Yes Wino on form it should be a Pirates win but we are talking Plymouth Albion here and be assured they will throw everything they've got to try and beat the Pirates. A Pirates v Albion clash and the form book goes out the window.
